Get the right sizing for the baptism or christening

As a new parent, one of the questions you may have is, "What size should I order for my baby's christening outfit?" It's completely normal to feel unsure about what size to choose without having the actual outfit in front of you. But don't worry, we have years of experience helping parents make this decision. The baptismal garment has beautiful history and significance.

Our christening gowns and outfits come in traditional infant sizes: Newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month, 18 month, and 24 month. However, the size names can be confusing because every baby is different. Your 6-month-old may fit perfectly in a size 9 month gown or your 9-month-old may fit better in a size 6 month outfit.

That's why we recommend measuring your baby and referring to the size charts provided on the ordering page for each christening style. We want to ensure that your baby is comfortable and looks beautiful on their special day.

Measuring Your Baby Accurately for a Baptismal Garment

Measuring your baby can be a fun and memorable experience before a baptism as it might bring back memories for their birthday. All you will need:

  • Your baby (it's best if they are unclothed or wearing a snug-fitting undershirt. Avoid measuring over a heavy top)

  • A soft, comfortable surface to place your baby on (ensure that it's not elevated and your baby won't roll off)

  • A soft measuring tape (if you don't have one, you can use a piece of string and compare it to a ruler or construction measuring tape)

For both christening gowns and outfits, you will need to measure your baby's chest. Simply wrap the tape just below their underarms.. Ensure that the measurement is as accurate as possible for the best fit.

To ensure that you pick the right size for your baby's baptismal garment, follow these simple steps:

  1. Measure your baby's chest accurately by wrapping a soft measuring tape just below their underarms and pulling it snug, but not too tight.

  2. Check the measurement against the size chart for the particular style(s) you're interested in. You can find the size chart on a tab in the lower left-hand corner of the product ordering page.

  3. Many of of the size charts also list a weight range, but this is for reference only. If you're unsure, go with the measurements.

By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to acquiring the perfect outfit for your baby's special day!
