As you can tell a priest may choose to expand deeply on a certain reading or additional prayers, however one things must occur during a baptism: the pouring (or emersion) of water over the candidate and the words "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

How long does a Baptism take in other denominations?

The length of a Christian baptism can vary depending on the denomination and the specific practices of the church or congregation conducting the baptism. Typically, a baptism ceremony lasts around 30 minutes to an hour.

In some cases multiple baptisms of community members may occur, which would effect the total time of the ceremony. Additionally, sometimes baptisms occur at the end of a Sunday church service itself.

During a Christian baptism, the person being baptized is typically immersed in water or has water poured over them, which is symbolic of washing away their sins and becoming a new creation in Christ. A minister or priest will perform the baptism and may recite certain prayers or verses from the Bible. The person being baptized will typically profess their faith in Jesus Christ and their desire to follow Him. After the baptism, the person may be welcomed into the church community and may participate in a celebration with the congregation, such as a reception or special meal.
